Holidays tend to be scheduled.  Death is often not.

I often get a call from clients who are going on holiday, who suddenly feel that Wills are a priority, and they want to get them done before they leave.

It’s sensible to decide how important pre-holiday Wills are to you, and mention it to your professional adviser when you book your appointment.  It would be reasonable to expect your Wills to be prepared within a couple of weeks of your first meeting, as long as you have all the information ready at that meeting.

If you need your Wills to be turned around within two days rather than two weeks, you can ask, and see what reaction you get.  Some professionals may suggest you pay an expediency fee for quick work.  Some professionals will re-jig their diaries to make it happen for you, if they like you.  Some professionals will be so busy they simply can’t book your first meeting in until after your holiday.

Make a call and make your Will happen.  It needs to be done anyway, so if treating your holiday as your deadline, gets it done, that’s got to be a good thing.
